Jovision JVS-N917-SDL Full-Color Network Camera

The Jovision JVS-N917-SDL Full-Color Network Camera is a 3.0-megapixel network camera that records up to 2304 × 1296 through a 1/2.9-inch CMOS sensor. H.264 and H.265 compression run at 20 fps across two separate streams — a main stream of 256 Kbps to 4 Mbps and a sub-stream of 68 Kbps to 1024 Kbps — so a recorder can keep longer footage without thinning out the main channel.

The interesting part is how it treats darkness. Four white LEDs sit next to four infrared LEDs, and that pairing is what makes this a Jovision Full-Color Network Camera rather than an infrared-only unit: illumination reaches up to 50 metres and night footage can stay in colour instead of switching to monochrome. Day/night behaviour is selectable between auto, always black and white, always colour and scheduled colour, minimum illumination falls to 0 lux with the lights on, and digital 3D noise reduction, DWDR, smart defog and night vision optimisation clean up glare, haze and low light.

As a Jovision 3MP IP Camera it also interprets what it sees. Intelligent analysis covers region intrusion, line crossing, video blocking and people counting, while motion detection is humanoid-based, so moving branches and passing headlights raise fewer pointless alerts. Up to eight privacy mask areas can be drawn over windows or neighbouring property. A built-in microphone and speaker using G.711U/G.711A coding allow two-way audio, letting you listen and speak through the camera itself.

Installation is uncomplicated for a Jovision PoE Camera. It runs on DC 12V or IEEE 802.3af PoE over the same 10/100 Mbps cable and draws under 3W by day and under 6W at night. The M12 lens interface accepts a 3.6 mm or 6 mm lens, giving an 83.8° or 52.4° horizontal field of view. The IP67 housing measures 95 × 95 × 175 mm, weighs 280 g and operates from -20°C to 60°C. Standard ONVIF support plus CloudSEE 2.0 transmission means it works with third-party recorders as well as the iOS and Android app, for up to 13 users at once.

Important Usage Instructions

• Mount the camera 2.5 to 3 metres high and angle it downwards so faces fall inside the 83.8° or 52.4° field of view rather than at the frame edge.
• Avoid pointing the lens straight at a street light, a window or the sun, as constant backlight forces the DWDR to work against you.
• Keep glass, walls and railings out of the near field, because the IR and white LEDs reflect off them and wash out the picture at night.
• Use a PoE switch or injector that meets IEEE 802.3af, and weatherproof the RJ45 joint even though the camera body itself is IP67.
• Wipe the lens cover and LED glass every few months, and set privacy masks over neighbouring property before the camera goes live.
