The Jovision JVS-ND6606-HD 6CH NVR is the recording hub of a small camera system: six IP channels, 50 Mbps of input bandwidth and 40 Mbps out, handled by one box that lives beside the router. All six channels decode at 5.0 MP, 4.0 MP, 1080p, 960p or 720p at 25 fps, so cameras keep their native resolution instead of being scaled down to fit the recorder.

H.265 compression, with H.264 also available, holds the same picture in far less space, and that matters because this unit takes a single SATA drive of up to 10 TB — together they are the difference between a few weeks and a few months of retained footage. For live viewing, the Jovision 6 Channel NVR drives HDMI at up to 2560 × 1440 and VGA at the same time, with the screen split 1, 4, 5 or 6 ways. Synchronous playback covers one 5.0 MP, 4.0 MP or 3.0 MP channel, or two channels at 1080p, and footage is searched by channel, recording type or date. Audio uses a single 3.5 mm output plus six audio channels carried over HDMI, and backup goes to a FAT32 USB device — there are two USB ports — or across the network.

Networking on this Jovision H.265 NVR runs through one 10/100 Mbps RJ45 port speaking TCP/IP, DHCP, UDP, SMTP, NTP and CloudSEE, with iOS and Android apps for remote viewing and ONVIF 2.4 for cameras from other makers. A triggered event can start recording, take a snapshot, move a PTZ camera, play a voice prompt, send an e-mail, alert the client software or sound the buzzer. The chassis measures 255 × 41 × 195 mm, weighs 1.0 kg or less without a drive, and draws no more than 10 W from a DC 12 V supply.

Important Usage Instructions

• Fit a surveillance-grade SATA hard disk of up to 10 TB before first use, and format it from the recorder's own menu.
• Keep total camera bitrate inside the 50 Mbps input limit; six 5.0 MP cameras at maximum quality will hit that ceiling.
• Set the time and NTP server first, because search by date is useless if the clock drifts.
• Leave the vents clear and stand the unit on a hard flat surface — a hard disk running hot in a closed cabinet is the usual cause of lost footage.
• Take periodic backups to a FAT32 USB drive or over the network, since the recorder overwrites the oldest footage once the disk fills.
